My favorite season is the spring. It is always so refreshing to wake up after a long, cold winter and realize that the days are getting warmer, the sunshine is lingering longer and the evidence of new growth is everywhere. Flowers are poking out of the ground and trees are showing new leaves. It just makes you feel good allover! Spring is perfect weather for my favorite outfit: jeans and a sweatshirt. You can wear this all day long and feel comfortable and fashionable, even though it is not appropriate for the workplace. Spring always makes people nicer, kinder and more considerate. Is it any wonder that spring is my favorite time of the year? Isn’t spring everybody’s favorite season? If not, it should be!
Some of us love our dogs more than others. Mine is only slightly spoiled. She is allowed to sleep with me at night in my bed and she is a major bed hog- problem is she’s only 20 pounds! She also loves to go camping. We are not allowed to say the word “camping” until the camper and the car are completely loaded because she acts like a freak! The last camping trip of the year will be at the end of October and all of our friends will be bringing their dogs as well, so this year we have decided to do a Halloween theme and of course we will go shopping for Halloween costumes for dogs…of course it’s silly and the animals will act all humiliated but it’s going to be fun. Trick or treating for snacks, they will have to do tricks for them of course and we will have a parade and a contest for the best costume what great fun it will be. Hopefully it doesn’t snow! Wish us luck.
Today started out as most other days in my life as late. I get up and make a phone call to my 93-year old mother to make sure she is doing OK. Although she lives independently, she does rely on me for many of her day-to-day tasks, and this morning I had to meet the home health aide at 9:30 a.m. so he could change the dressing on a wound that still lingers after a nasty fall. So after a quick shower, I headed over to my mother’s apartment to begin the first part of my day. I am finding that it is a quite a role reversal, as I am now becoming the parent to my mother.
My favorite animals are penguins, and polar bears. Penguins are just so cool; they just waddle around and dive in and go swim in the water to get some food. They are always just hanging out in big groups and they are really amusing. Polar bears are really cool to because they are white, and they just hangout in the snow. I did not know until recently that Polar bears are actually Grizzly bears that were looking for more food and they moved to more arctic conditions and that over time they adapted to the environment so that they would not stick out like a sore thumb in the snow.
